I was looking into my ancestry from my mother's side. From the baptismal certificate, they came from Sereth, Bucovina. Siret is on the Romanian side now. For some reason I thought it was the Ukraine, because Sereth is also a river. and mostly in Ukraine. Bukovina was split between Soviet Union (Ukraine) and Romania in 1940 by the Moltov-Ribbentrop Pact between Nazi Germany and the Soviet Union.
